Summary

The Center for Student Well-being CSW of Washington & Jefferson College, a unit within the Division of Student Life, is pleased to announce an opening for a Mental Health Clinician. This position is a full-time, 11-month appointment July 1 through May 31 each year with salary and benefits. Salary for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This is a generalist counseling position, and the successful candidate should be interested in working with the full range of mental health challenges and concerns presented by a college student population. As a member of the Division for Student life, CSW is committed to equity and inclusivity and strives to provide a staff that embody these principles. Qualifications for consideration include an advanced degree MA, MS, MSW, MFT in counseling, clinical, marriage and family, social work or other closely related mental health profession from an accredited program. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to healthy and enjoyable work relationships and a collaborative working style. Preference will be given to licensed or license-eligible candidates and those candidates with prior experience working in college counseling centers or with traditional-aged college students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing individual, group, and relationship therapy to students
  • Evaluation and assessment of students in crisis, and urgent-care same-day counseling
  • Consultation to faculty, staff, students and students' families as needed
  • Outreach and training regarding mental health and developmental issues for faculty, staff and student groups
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently while also contributing positively to a team-oriented environment
  • Develop collaborative relationships with various campus organizations e.g. Athletics, Residence Life, Disability Support Services, and International Student Support.
  • Participate in collection of accurate client and center data.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and scheduling within Titanium Schedule.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and college-wide or division-wide meetings and events
  • Regular evening and occasional weekend hours required.
  • Additional administrative duties or other assignments as appropriate

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned advanced degree MA, MS, MSW, MFT in counseling, clinical, marriage and family, social work or other closely related mental health profession from an accredited program.
  • Licensed or license eligible in Pennsylvania
  • A minimum of 2 years providing counseling and psychological services.
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for working with traditional-aged college students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional counseling licensure in PA LPC, LCSW, LMFT
  • Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A self-motivated and self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, and knowledge of/adherence to legal guidelines and professional ethical standards.
  • Evidence of skill in addressing psychiatric emergencies
  • Demonstrated professional commitment and interest in university counseling center work and college student development
  • Demonstrable experience in and commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, and commitment to ongoing development of multicultural competence
