The 2021 W&J Symposium on Democracy will focus on “Democracy in Times of Crisis: When Freedom and Security Collide.” Featuring keynote speakers Kathleen Belew, Pat Benic, Jocelyn Benson, Nathan Law, and Adrian Shahbaz, we will examine issues of tension between freedom and security around the world, taking a look at the violent storming of the U.S. Captiol, the growing toll of the global pandemic, and a growing decline in international democracy as many governments impose new limits on individual freedoms and political dissent.
In 2021, the Symposium will take place entirely remotely. See the full schedule of events at https://www.symposiumondemocracy.org/sessions/.
