John P. Lambertson is a professor in the Department of Art. He is the Edith M. Kelso Chair of Art History and he teaches the art history survey sequence and upper-level courses on modern art. He has taught at the University of New Hampshire, West Virginia University and California University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lambertson’s specialty is nineteenth-century French painting, and he has published on French Romanticism, politics, and popular culture in the Woman’s Art Journal, the Art Bulletin and the Oxford Art Journal. He has also contributed essays to exhibition catalogs for the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
