Professor Katherine Ternes is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages. She teaches elementary, intermediate, and advanced Spanish, in addition to literature surveys and culture courses. She also participates in the Freshmen Year Seminar program. Over the years, she has led and co-taught courses in Guanajuato, Mexico, Granada, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Her areas of interest include Modern Latin American Literature and Culture, Latin American Revolutions, Latin American and Latinx Artists and Activists, Foreign Language Pedagogy, and Service-Learning. Her primary research concerns avant-garde and contemporary artistic production in Mexico and artistic activism of the Spanish-speaking world.
