Todd D. Verdun, Ph.D.

Dr. Verdun is an associate professor who loves to explore 19th-century British literature, poetry and poetics across time periods and cultures, and relationships among poetry, religion, science, and the arts. He regularly teaches courses that get students actively involved in these studies: Romantic Science, Romantic Mythologies, Faith in Poetry (poetry in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), British Lit 1660-1901, The World of the Brontes, The Gothic. As Magellan advisor to freshmen, he has helped scores of first-year students plan and perfect their applications for W&J’s innovative project for independent, funded summer study and travel. Dr. Verdun works often with interdisciplinary programs such as Conflict and Resolution Studies, and he serves as faculty advisor to the College’s Newman Club.
